OBID classic-pro readers by FEIG ELECTRONIC now support the complete security functionality of NXP´s mifare PLUS tags

FEIG ELECTRONIC has released new firmware providing simple functions to authenticate and encrypt mifare PLUS transponders when reading and writing without the need for an expensive Security Access Module (SAM). This firmware supports all features of the mifare PLUS and mifare PLUS S chip types in the SL0, SL1, SL2 and SL3 security levels for many readers of the OBID classic-pro product line.

mifare PLUS security functions are fully implemented into the firmware which already supports mifare Ultralight C and mifare DESFire.  The OBID classic-pro readers, by FEIG ELECTRONIC, support the entire spectrum of security for mifare transponder chips by NXP.  An additional Security Access Module (SAM) is no longer necessary.  Compared to SAM-based readers, the OBID classic-pro readers provide an inexpensive and high-performance solution which can be used in existing applications without additional hardware expense.

The new firmware follows the FEIG ELECTRONIC strategy of enabling the user to easily handle the complex functions of different types of transponder chips. Interface with the transponder chips is possible even without extensive user "know-how" of the different processes of communication between the transponder and RFID interrogator.
